Guernsey Girl for ladies
Here you can find the child version of this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/guernsey-girl-fo...
I love the idea of 2 generations wearing the same design! Having finished “Guernsey Girl for children” I had a strong feeling that this design would go very well for adults too:) I changed some elements of the design to be more suited for a grown-up, but the overall impression is the same.
This pattern has been tested (and proof-read) by a group of talented and skilfull knitters. A huge thank you to: Lea78 / lhensley / naminoki / Ozifarmer / Themeis and Sue-Cat.
Design Guernsey Girl for ladies has a timeless, flattering, wearable design. Depending on the yarn and your mood it could be worn with jeans as well as over a pencil-skirt. The look melts in with so many outfits, from casual to office. The collars and cuffs are worked double (folded over), which gives a neat look.
Seamless construction The body of the cardigan is worked bottom up from cast-on to underarms. Work is divided and fronts and back are worked in separate parts to the shoulders. There are short-row shaping of the shoulders to give a neat fit. Sts are picked up around armholes, and sleeves are worked top-down and in the round, starting from a short sleeve-cap shaped by short-rows.
The collar and button bands are worked last, from spared and picked-up sts. If you make doubled cuffs and collar these are sewed to the back when folded.
Sizes There are 10 sizes to choose from: 77/81.5/86/91/95.5/100/105/109/114/118.5 = 30/32/34/36/37.5/39/41/43/45/46.5”. Sample is made in size 32”, with no ease.
Materials
You could use any yarn that knits up to gauge, 26 sts and 36 rows. I used Sandnes ”Mini Alpakka”, fingering weight (50gr/1.76oz and 150m/164yards per ball). You will need approximately 7/8/8/8/9/9/9/10/10/11 balls of above yarn. Needles: 2.5mm/US1.5, 80cm/32” circular needle for the ribbing of the body, the collar, the buttonbands. 3mm/US2.5, 90cm/32” circular needle for the body. 3mm/US2.5 DPNs (or longer circular neede for magic loop) for the sleeves. 2.5mm/US1.5 DPNs (or longer cicurlar needle for magic loop) for the ribbing of the sleeves.
The pattern All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. All stitch-counts are given. There are separate charts for the lower border for sleeves and body, for right and left fronts and for back. The Guernsey pattern is charted only.
Knitting skills: abbreviations used: k, p, ssk, k2tog, m1r, m1l. Techniques used: short-rows (explained), provisional cast-on (explained/optional), picking up sts, working shoulders together using the 3-needle bind-off method.
