Guiding Light Afghan Square
A free version is also available.
buy it now or visit pattern website
This beginner friendly mosaic crochet afghan square uses simple stitches to create texture and design.
You will need to know how to chain, single crochet and double crochet. You will also need to know how to recognize the front loop and back loop of a stitch.
A video tutorial is available for this afghan square.
The finished square measures 12 X 12 inches when worked with a 6 mm (J) hook. If you are using a 5 mm (H) hook, you will need to add 2 rounds of back loop single crochet to reach 12-inches.
If you enjoy this style of afghan square, please see the other afghan squares I have designed using this technique. This project looks great in a single color of yarn too and when you use a single color of yarn you can simply slip stitch (tightly) to join, chain 1 (tightly) and then begin the next round without finishing or carrying your yarn.
A free version of this pattern is available on my blog which is monetized by ads. If you prefer, you may purchase the ad-free PDF of the pattern right here on Ravelry. The ad-free PDF includes a stitch chart for those who prefer working from a chart.
I hope you enjoy making this afghan block - I can’t wait to see all the different color options you use when you make your squares!
