Guinea pig
Many of my friends have requested a knit replication of their cherished pet. I’ve decided to share some of the designs with the knitting community!
Guinea pigs are adorable animals that like to reside in a social setting. They like to chat to each other and really have quite a vocabulary with a lot of ‘put-puts’, ‘wheek-wheeks’ and ‘purrr-purrrs’!
If you don’t need the hassle of providing for a live guinea pig, this cute knitted variety is a great alternative. It thrives even without being fed!
And to make sure your woolly guinea pig doesn’t get lonely, maybe knit a couple!
This is an easy to medium project, that requires some intarsia and short row knitting.
The guinea pig in this pattern has so called ‘Dutch coloring’, with patches of white and brown fur. It measures 14 cm from nose to bum.
It was knitted on 3 mm double pointed needles (UK 11, US 3) with approx. 50 m of yarn.
Lana Grossa Ariosa (16) camel and Lang Alice (094) ecru for the body were combined with a strand of Lana Grossa Mohairlana (04) white, knit together to create a fluffy appearance. The paws are made in Lana Grossa Baby Soft Rose (13).
