Guinea Pig with Baby
With this design, the adult Guinea pig’s body has an internal pocket which opens to reveal the baby guinea pig inside!
This pattern is 15 pages long and includes the instructions for both the adult Guinea pig and her baby, It contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and is written in English, using American crochet terms.
You will need:
Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used King Cole Pricewise DK acrylic yarn and my finished guinea pig measures approximately 9cm tall and 17.5cm long.
You will need the following colours:
Main Body Colour - I used tan (approx. 110m)
Nose Stripe Colour - I used cream (approx. 5m)
Tummy & Feet Colour - I used pink (approx. 54m)
Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide.
A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 3mm hook.
Toy stuffing.
Pink finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the facial details.
A pair of 6mm black eyes for the baby and 9mm black eyes for the adult guinea pig.
A small pink button for fastening the guinea pig’s body.
Clear nylon thread for adding the whiskers (this step is optional).
2 toy squeakers (including these is optional). The ones I used were 3.5cm wide.
A brush for making your yarn fluffy - I used a wire pet slicker brush (this step is optional).
Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker. You will also need a needle and thread for attaching the button.
You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Feel free to contact me with any questions as I am more than happy to help. Thank you.
