Gujarati Diamond
Read about this shawl on my blog.
This elegant lace shawl is a collaboration between the knitting pattern designer, Ruth Churchman, and yarn dyer, spinner and paper artist, Lindsay Roberts – the Border Tart. Lindsay developed her range of natural hand-dyed indigo yarns, Blue Moon, after participating in a textile residency/exchange in India. The shawl was designed specifically for Lindsay’s indigo dyed lace weight yarn, and it seemed only right that the design should be inspired by India. After studying the fabrics Lindsay brought back from India, a textile from Kutch, Gujarat, provided the diamond motif which decorates the wide border edging of this curved lace shawl.
An elongated semi-circular shawl, worked from the top edge to the outer edge, starting with a garter stitch tab. The shawl is shaped by increases at the shawl edges on every row.
