YARN: 3 skeins (4 oz, 395 yards each) Expression Fiber Arts Luster Superwash Merino Tencel Sport yarn. Shown in colorway: Boston at Night. If that colorway isn’t available, any shade from this category will work. Fingering weight would make a great option too.
SIZE: 17 inches wide and 62 inches long before joining.
HOOK: US Size H (5.00 mm)
Notes From the Designer:
•Poncho is worked flat from bottom up as one piece and then seamed together at shoulder.
•Pattern includes chart for center stitch pattern.
•Uses 3 skeins of Expression Fiber Arts Luster Tencel Sport yarn and a size H/8 (5.0mm) crochet hook.
•Quick and simple pattern that is perfect for beginners wanting to expand their crochet and chart reading skills.
•Boho style and light weight make it a perfect accessory for cooler nights.
I am fascinated with the popular boho ponchos that contain simple styling with just one shoulder seam and are easy to wear in multiple ways. The rectangular shape worked lengthwise makes it a quick project to crochet and wear on those evenings when the air is cooler.
My inspiration for the design is the Gulf Coast with its astonishing diversity of wildlife, amazing array of plant life, beautiful white beaches, and clear water. Up until just a few years ago, I had never seen the ocean. Once I was able to see the ocean and actually put my feet in the water, I fell in love. There is a certain sense of peace you get when watching the waves roll in and feeling the soft breeze on your face coming from the water. The shell pattern that I used as the main focal point of this design resembles the rolling waves.
