Gull Wing Pulli
This yarn is a dream to work with and wear! The top had it’s inspiration from the lovely lacy knits of Kristeen Griffin-Grimes. I love the femininity of her designs. I worked out the gauge for the yarn and then used Elizabeth Zimmerman’s technique of proportions to figure out number of stitches for the style that I wanted. It has 3/4 length sleeves and is just hip length. It is designed to wear over a camisole or tank and the bottom of the underlayer peeks out under the hemline. The hemline has a slight scallop due to the lace weave. I used a scaled down version of one of Griffin-Grimes’ “French Girl Knits” front edges for this top and am very satisfied with it. This top has inset triangular stockenette panels on the front and sleeve to set off the lace stitches. The increases and decreases for shaping are done within the panel so the lace pattern stays intact. The yarn used for the lovely rusty orange version is Knitpicks, Gloss DK, Masala.
