Guyonne Lace Scarf
May we introduce “Guyonne” to you, a stunning, yet cosy, lace scarf worked entirely in the timeless “falling leaves” pattern. When complete, the scarf is over 2m long, allowing it to be worn in a variety of ways to protect against the autumnal elements. In warmer days, “Guyonne” can be worn more decoratively, allowing the full beauty of the multiple pattern repeats to be admired along its length. To add stability and finesse to our scarf, we have included a slip-stitch edge and, given the theme of this work, it is entirely appropriate that we use the French method combining slipped stitches with their knit/purl counterparts.
This design has been inspired by its little sister “Antoinette”, a scarf of a similar pattern, but without the scale and comfort that these extended pattern repeats provide. In life, Antoinette enjoys the companionship of her ‘bigger’ sister, Guyonne. We dedicate this scarf to her.
