I’ve heard it said the the word Gypsy is discriminatory.
I don’t abide by this. Gypsy is a term for travelers and is still used in modern times and is still current among many cultures. ALL discrimination is derived from fear and perhaps even jealousy for the peoples who have little and who, despite all odds are able to travel freely around the world, while the rest of us are stuck in a 9-5 existence that we want to escape from.

This pattern is named for those Gypsies around the world, for the Ethnic minorities, whom I hope are proud of the nomadic lifestyle and whom have suffered greatly against racism and persecution because of their lifestyle and that they have a relative freedom, but most of us do not.

This pattern is for a hand knitted Gypsy doll. The completed doll stands around 39cm tall and instructions are included for all body parts, facial features and clothing. Clothing includes a flared and ruffled skirt, bodice top, Mutton chop puffed sleeve jacket, boots, panties and a kerchief.

You will need one 250gm ball of double knit yarn to complete the body, and one ball of a chunky type yarn for her hair (tips on choosing the hair yarn are included in the pattern).
For her clothing, small amounts of yarn, left over 1/4 balls.

She is curvaceous, lovely and complete with a bust and cleavage and is perfectly sized for desktop of shelf positioning.
Super cute and a delight to behold and also in the making. The pattern is 11 pages with images, hints and tips to create your own individual masterpiece from start to finish.

And of course, extra embellishments and optional extra’s along the way, such as wired limbs, jewelry, trim and even makeup which completes your doll.

She looks tricky to make and while she may take a few days or so to complete, the knitting is very easy and quick and it’s the details that you add that bring her to life.

Please note: Gypsy is not suitable for young children and there are no tips in the pattern for child safe strategies.
