Gytha is a simple lace scarf. Its main motif is a variation on the traditional horseshoe from Shetland/fishtail from Estonia offset with garter stitch. It is knitted in two parts and grafted at the center.

The scarf can be easily shortened, lengthened, and widened. Instructions for doing so are given in the pattern. The lace is charted only.

While the sample was worked in laceweight yarn, it would also look great in fingering weight.

The “whale road” is a Norse kenning for the sea.
