החיים הטובים is Hebrew and means “the good life”. This top was inspired by my swimsuit, M.I.A.’s song “Bad Girls”, and the city of Tel Aviv.

Sizing / yarn requirements: See bottom picture for detailed sizing and yardage table.

The top is supposed to be worn with 10 to 15 cm = 4 to 6 inches of negative ease around the bust, for a snug fit, and some positive ease in the waist and around the bottom edge.

The 12 sizes are grouped into three sets with slightly different proportions, and the pattern contains detailed advice for individual waist and bust shaping, as well as for adjusting the straps.

The top is shown in size S3 on a person with a 84 cm / 33” bust and a 90 cm / 35” hip.

Yarn advice:
The original top was knitted with YarnStories 4-ply linen (400 m / 440 yds per 100g) in colour #407 neon pink. with the straps and i-cord finishings in colour #501 plum.
Any fingering yarn can be used for this garment. Yarns with a high linen or hemp content are recommended for a crisp summery feel and a body-hugging fabric. Silk will be more drapey and stretchy and might not hold its shape as well.

Needle advice:
Use the needle size that gives you the required gauge, most likely 2.25 – 2.75 mm / US #1 - 2. You will need a medium long circular needle (80 - 100 cm / 32 - 40’’) to knit the body in one piece.

Construction:
The top is knitted bottom up in the round. At the armholes it is split into front and back, the upper front is knitted flat. All the straps and finishings are worked as i-cords.

Verwende die Nadelstärke, mit der die angegebene Maschenprobe erreicht wird, wahrscheinlich 2,25 – 2,75 mm. Es wird eine Rundstricknadel in 80 - 100 cm Länge benötigt.

Konstruktion:
Das Top wird von unten nach oben in der Runde gestrickt. An den Achseln wird es in Vorder- und Rückenteil geteilt und flach weitergestrickt. Alle Träger und Kanten sind I-Cords.
