Hackberry Crescent
The Hackberry Crescent is a tri-colored crescent shawl that employs a simple to follow slipped stitch pattern to give the look of colorwork while only using one color at a time.
It uses three contrasting skeins of fingering weight yarn, has a built-in i-cord border, and a generous size that allows you to wrap yourself in luxurious super-soft merino wool.
I designed this shawl for my friends at Hill Country Weavers for their annual knitting retreat swag bag. The original colors were custom colorways for their event.
Yarn: Barker Wool Fern, (85/15% Fine Merino/Nylon, fingering) 100g skeins in three contrasting colors. Shown here in Big Sky, Tumbleweed, & Llano Estacado but your choice of any three 100g skeins of contrasting fingering weight colorways will work.
This is a great opportunity to go stash diving since it only requires one skein of three different colorways!
Finished Measurements: approximately 86” W x 20” D at center point.
Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm)
Gauge: 24 STS x 32 rows = 4” x 4” in Stockinette ST
