This is a straightforward men’s pullover with a secret code knitted into it for fun. The rib pattern running up each side and down each sleeve is based on the binary code for a set of initials. These can be the initials of the person who’s wearing the sweater, someone else’s, or whatever you like. You can even spell out a word (as long as it only has 4 letters).
Strategic finishing techniques help this sweater hang well and look interesting. The front and back are worked flat. A few short rows across the shoulders improve the fit and keep the back of the sweater from riding up. The body is assembled using 3-needle seams, and then the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round from the top down with short-row sleeve caps.
Instructions are provided to convert this pattern to a cozy boyfriend-style sweater for women.
Finished measurements
Chest: 33, (36.25, 39.5, 42, 46, 50) inches / Length: 22, (23, 24, 25, 26, 27) inches
$1 from the sale of each pattern will be donated to the Stung Teng Women’s Development Centre in Cambodia, which offers opportunities to improve local women’s living standards through education, vocational training and employment.
