This lacy and airy cardigan is made to be worn open; its length is fully customizable (sleeves and panel). This make works up fast and its construction is quite simple. The stitches look quite intricate, but are rather easy to make.

This pattern is an intermediate-level, made-to-measure project, which means you will set your stitch count according to the measurements of your own swatch. The main stitch in pattern looks great with several weights and types of yarn, but to get the open lace effect, you will need to size up a bit from the hook size you would normally use for your yarn. If you crochet loosely, you can go up 1.5 mm, but go up even more if you crochet tightly. You will also need two different hook sizes as the main stitch tends to tighten up quite a bit.

With this pattern, you are expected to know how to make an SC, a DC, a ch, a sl st and an SC2TOG. If you don’t, video tutorials of these stitches are easily found online. All other stitches are explained in detail in the pattern’s written Stitch Tutorial.

Testers who made the garment in child-size used between 200 and 600 yards (long sleeves) for 18 mo up to 6T.

Testers for adult-size ranged between S and 2 XL and used between 610 and nearly 1000 yards of yarn. A chart with more details can be found in the pattern.
