I originally made the “Hailey” skirt during a sleepless night when I wanted something very quick and very simple. I know other people like quick and simple things too, so I wrote the “Hailey” Hat pattern.

I wanted to extend that to a Hat and Skirt pattern covering at least 3 different sizes from newborn through to 12 months old.

This pattern covers all three sizes for both hat and skirt, and, additionally, gives ideas of how to make the set up using different colourways, with different waist ties, and different hems. Also, I have included two different flowers (one is a link to the original source).

A nice light hat and skirt, made in light worsted (DK/8ply) yarn, in a simple “V” stitch pattern which works up very quickly and easily.

You will need:

3.75mm and 4mm hooks; 1 skein of yarn for each set, or two if you make them in two different colours; a yarn needle and a button if you wish to add a button the the hat.
