Haimish Cardigan
Haimish is a Yiddish word that means homey, comfortable, and cozy, and this pattern fits the bill. Knit in a simple texture pattern that creates a light and cushy fabric, and designed with an easy, relaxed fit, this sweater is very haimish indeed.
Haimish is knit in one piece from the bottom up. It is divided at the underarms and worked separately before being joined at the shoulders. Sleeves are picked up from the armhole edging and worked down to cuffs. Stitches for the front ribbed band are picked up from around the inside edge. The ribbing on the sleeve cuff is worked on larger needles to match the front band and bottom ribbing. If you prefer a tighter sleeve cuff, continue working on the cuff on the smaller needles used for the body
Pattern Note - The pattern calls for the Suspended Bind Off to be used, and this should be done loosely. But any elastic bind off could be substituted.
