Hairpin Doily
All the instructions that I’ve found for making Hairpin Doilies are so very vague, this pattern is my attempt to add to our collective knowledge.
You can follow the pattern exactly or you can use the information to experiment with different weights of yarn, frame sizes and add additional rounds. If you follow the links you can even experiment with different braid designs and joining techniques.
For these examples I used a 2.5cm/1” Hairpin Quad frame with a 3mm hook. I’ve used Scheepjes Cotton8 for one example and DMC Natura Linen for the other. They both produce doilies of approximately 20 to 21cm diameters.
They use approximately 15/18grams, between 50 and 60 meters of yarn in total. Plus a few scraps of yarn to use as marker threads.
As always I am here if you need any additional support and am always happy to help.
