Hairpin Lace Hat
My favorite hats “in the wild” are ones with a little bling. When people watching, I am always drawn toward people wearing hats with beads or sequins. In an effort to push the envelope and see what I could do with one skein of sequined and beaded silk yarn, I decided to challenge myself with hairpin lace. Creating strips of fabric in the traditional way, I then manipulated one strip into a medallion (perfect for a hat’s crown) and joined strips into tubes to create the remainder of the hat. As long as you set the loom to the radius of the crown, you will have a hat that fits!
