This is a listing for a lacy shoulder cowl. The finished cowl measures 10 inches X 56 inches. The lace cowl can be worn as a spring garment, draping over your shoulders in a way that won’t fall off. Or it can be made to be warmer, by wrapping it around your neck and shoulders, as seen in the pictures. However, you may have a favorite way to wear cowls that’s different from mine. The lace stitch is a very open one, so it is suitable for at least three seasons, in addition to being very feminine.

This cowl is knit using a very pretty Japanese lace stitch that is a variation of the well known Shetland Stitch, Feather and Fan. It is embellished, and closed using buttons and buttonholes. There are instructions contained within the pattern for the buttonholes. These instructions will allow you to use any buttons that you like and as many as you like. There are also instructions contained within the pattern for an optional crocheted edging.

Although this is a fairly easy pattern to make, it has quite a unique look to it.

Skill Level: Beginner + - Intermediate

The lace stitches are both charted, and written out line by line.
