Half-a-lac Bag
Knit in the round with Lamb’s Pride Worsted and Noro Kureyon. Finished bag is about 9” tall and 10” wide.
I call this my “Half-a-lac Bag because instead of knitting complete squares, you’ll only be knitting half squares, or triangles. After the first row of base triangles there’s a row of “filler” triangles, then another row of base triangles and so on. This pattern includes a lot of picking up of stitches, but if you’ve done entrelac before that shouldn’t be a big deal. Experience with entrelac is helpful, but not essential.
Information about needle sizes used.
The Noro Kureyon is knit on a slightly smaller needle (size 10) than the Lamb’s Pride (size 10 1/2) because it doesn’t shrink quite as readily as the LP. They could be knit with the same size needle - the Kureyon triangles would just appear slightly larger after felting but they should still fit together nicely between the smaller LP triangles. Also it is a bit of work to switch back and forth between needle sizes unless you have a set of interchangable needles. (I love my Denises!) If you’re going to use just one size needle use the size 10. Both times I’ve made this bag I’ve had just a few yards left over of the Kureyon on size 10. The size 13 needles are for knitting the base of the bag with the LP held doubled.
I welcome any questions or comments!
