A scarf worked lengthwise, mainly in st st with a garter border on one edge and a simple but elegant lace stitch on the bottom edge. The ends of the scarf are sharply curved upwards with a combination of increases and short rows, which make the knitting mindless enought but not too boring.
The original yarn is a fingering weight, tweedy wool and alpaca blend, soft and warm, which makes this scarf perfect for both winter and spring. The alpaca content gives the yarn a decided drape, which is enhanced by the loose tension at which the scarf is knitted. I have suggested two readily available outside of Italy yarn substitutes which should produce more or less the same gauge, yet exact gauge is not essential in this project.

Una sciarpa lavorata per la lunga, a maglia rasata con un bordo a legaccio e una semplice ed elegante finitura a pizzo. Le terminazioni della sciarpa si curvano verso l’alto grazie a una combinazione di aumenti e ferri accorciati che rendono la lavorazione rilassante ma non noiosa.
Il filato originale è un mosti lana e alpaca piuttosto sottile, morbido e caldo, rendendo la sciarpa perfetta per l’inverno e la primavera. L’alpaca dà al filato e al lavoro una qualità drappeggiante, esaltata dalla tensione molto bassa usata per lavorare la sciarpa. Ho suggerito due filati alternativi facilmente disponibili fuori dall’Italia; questi filati si possono lavorare alla stessa tensione, tuttavia una tensione esatta non è indispensabile alla buona riuscita di questo progetto.
