Half Squared Shawl
Half Squared, is exactly that a half square or triangle done in Seed Stitch. This is an extremely versatile pattern. Here I have done a shawl, but have used this pattern to create many things. Combined with my seed stitch square it makes a great hooded baby blanket or towel, a corner rug, or coaster for the corners of your counter top. Also can be used in place of the traditional half granny square for afghan fill ins. The seed stitch is one of my favorites as it creates a solid fabric that is breathable at the same time. As it is half chain stitches it stretches the yarn farther as well as making a lighter object. If you have ever made a rag rug you know how heavy they can get, plus less strips to cut. When this half square is worked in Caron Simply Soft yarn and an L hook the drape is INCREDIBLE. Two 6 ounce skeins made a shawl 58” wide from point to point. Once pattern is established this is a one row repeat, worked from the top down so size is completely adjustable. Use the hook and yarn you wish. This shawl matches my One Squared Purse pattern.
