Description
I have always been a fan of half-timbered houses. The mixture of visible wooden beams and brick/stucco on the facade of these structures will forever feel like home - a part of Bavaria, Germany, called Franconia - to me. Some plain, some intricate, all enduring, and a testament of craftsmanship. There’s nothing quite like building something with your own two hands, is there?
My half timbered series of knitting patterns is a tribute to this style of architecture and offers the essence of it in knitting patterns - both plain and intricate, and a chance to practice your craft to end up with a knitted item that you’ll be able to enjoy for a long time.

Construction
The Half Timbered Scarf is knitted in one piece from one end to the other.

Size
One size, 37” / 98 cm length, 4.25” / 11 cm width.

Yarn and Yardage
Ancient Arts Yarns Socknado 100 g (3.5 oz) / 385 yds (350 m); 80% superwash fine merino, 20% nylon; fingering weight in Himalayan; 1 skein, 55g, 212 yds (194 m) used for sample

Needles and Notions
US4 / 3.5 mm straight or circular needles, 24” (61 cm) length recommended. Cable needle.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge
36 sts and 34 rows after blocking = 4” / 10cm, knit in scarf repeat pattern.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it will affect the finished measurements. It’s a tiny summer scarf, don’t worry too much about the gauge!
