This pattern is designed to make a basic cuff down sock with a shadow wrap short row heel and a round toe.

It looks great in plain or variegated yarns and is especially good for self striping yarns as there is no gusset to disturb the striping sequence and it is easy to add a contrast heel.

It is suitable for a beginner sock knitter with all stitch counts included and instructions for special stitches. It is assumed that you can cast on and knit in the round.

There are hints for adding contrast colour heels and avoiding holes on the corner of the heels included in the pattern.

The yarn used in the example is HalfBaked HandDyed SelfStriping Sock Yarn in the colour “Kay” with contrast heels in HalfBaked HandDyed Sock in the colour “A Lady Without Passport”. Any fingering yarn that achieves gauge can be substituted.
