Halloween Baby Gnomes: Witch and Clown
These Halloween Baby Gnomes are ready to trick-or-treat! They stand only six and a quarter inches tall to the tip of their hats. They’re wearing their favorite costumes, and have a pumpkin basket to collect lots of candy. Their outfits include the tall pointed hat with a ruffled brim, scraggly witch hair and clown shoes. Samples were made in worsted weight yarn, but you could make them in any gauge by adjusting the yarn weight and needle size. A quick project, and a good way to use small amounts of yarn.
All parts are knitted in the round, and are knitted together except for the arms, which are sewn on at the end. Witch hair is knotted on. Pumpkin handle is knotted on.
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn, approx. amounts for each gnome: hat color – 22.5 yards; body/arm color – 16 yds; witch nose/hand color – 1.5 yds; witch hair – 2 yds, must be a plied yarn so the strands can be separated to create the scraggly look. Clown nose/shoe color – 15.75 yds; clown hand color – 1 yd. Pumpkin basket – 7.5 yds, basket handle – 1 yd.
Clip on marker
Yarn needle
Small amount of Polyfill stuffing
2 small stitch holders for the clown – round toothpicks or large paperclips work well.
If Gnome will be a decoration, buy a 1.5” fender washer to weight the bottom. If Gnome will be a toy, do not insert the washer.
