Who could resist taking this cute bat trick or treating for Halloween?
Knitted using a very simple construction, this pattern has a side seam ridge which makes it very easy to work the wings and ears.
The wings are worked in a traditional Shetland lace pattern, which lends for stretching to the correct shape without detailed shaping. The eyelets in the lace allow light to pass through in a truly spooky fashion - what a cutesy little creature this is!
The clever foot design means that cord or ribbon can be threaded through his feet to allow him to hang freely from any outpost, or to be carried from a loop for trick or treating.
It took me just one afternoon to make this little chap, so come on! You’ve still got time to make him before the ghouls and ghosties get here!!
And now they’ve vanished in to thin air, just look what has emerged: a beautiful butterfly!
Tired of these dark autumn days, I wanted to make something bright and fun, so I re-knitted Batty in bright colours and added a couple of antennae for extra intell. It looks like we are ready for the summer already!!
