Halloween Mosaic Square - VooDoo Daddy Skull
This VooDoo Daddy Skull square uses the overlay mosaic crochet technique with some color switching in some rows for added detail. This square can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc.
The main image shows extra embellishments such as beads & rhinestones, which are all optional.
Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.
For the sample image, you will need 5 colors of yarn - I used teal for the background, white for the skull & crossbones, black for the border, outlines & hat, gold for the hat band, & purple for the feather, along with some scrap eyelash yarn I had on hand.
This is a great way to use up scraps! For projects using similar colors, you will need approximately 1.5-2 oz of the background color, 1.5 oz of black, 1 oz of white, and a few yards of gold/tan & purple, IF using all medium weight #4 yarn & a 5.5mm hook. This all comes to around 4 oz total when finished.
Pattern is in US crochet terms.
