Halmoni Shawlette & Cowl
This cute little shawlette and cowl set features a combination of cables inspired by an heirloom piece knit by my Korean grandmother, aka “Halmoni”. The thin squiggly cables, typically found in Korean or other Asian patterns, give a slightly more elegant look without taking away any of the coziness.
The patterns are gauge-less and are designed to be one-skein wonders. Each one uses up the entirety of one of those random lonely skeins you have laying around, ranging from fingering to worsted weight. Thanks to a clever construction and some basic maths, you will make the most out of your precious single skeins, without any heavy thinking or worrying that you might run out of yarn before the end!
To see different versions of the pattern knit in various yarns, sizes, fibers and colors, you can check out the testers version under the “Project” tab or the #HalmoniShawlette and #HalmoniCowl on instagram.
Upon purchase of this pattern, you will receive both the Shawlette and the Cowl designs.
During the first week of the release (until the 3rd of December 2024), 100% of the proceeds of the pattern sale will be split in half and donated to 2 very small and local to me organizations:
https://www.arpa-romand.ch/: an organization financially helping the families of blind children. They can give out money without any complicated or lengthy administrative barriers, allowing immediate support when it’s needed, for example when a child needs an attendant for a school trip with a short notice. They can also lend money rapidly when there is too much delay for the federal supports: for example when a child needs some special equipment for studying, the federal support can take months of administrative back and forth before finally giving the money needed, in this case the Arpa organization can immediately lend the amount needed and wait a few months before getting reimbursed.
https://kumea.ch/: an organization saving all kind of small stray animals, but especially cats. They don’t have a shelter and work with families who will host the animals until they can be released or adopted. They are located close to me and have saved more than 200 cats in 2023.
