Hamar Hat
The Hamar Hat is a bottom-up, two-color hat, with a folded brim. It is knitted in the round with a dot stitch pattern which is created by knitting the colours separately and slipping stitches. The hat is a perfect stash-busting project because of the small amounts of yarn that is used. The contrast colour can be switched out for multiple colours, or the hat can be knitted in one colour.
Head Circumference
There are three sizes total and are made for the following head circumferences:
Adult Small 54 - 56 cm (21.5 - 22.5 in)
Adult Medium 57 - 59 cm (22.75 - 23.5 in)
Adult Large 60 - 62 cm (24 - 24.75 in)
Suggested Gauge
The gauge is 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) = 14 sts x 38 rows of stitch pattern, made with 4.5 mm needles.
Suggested Needles
Double Pointed Needles: 4.5 mm (US 7) needles
or 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles, using the Magic Loop Method
Suggested Yarn
The yarn used for this pattern is Nutiden Yarn from Höner Och Eir held double, but other similar unspun thin roving yarns held double can also be used. Otherwise, a heavy DK-weight or a light worsted-weight yarn are also an option.
Blue hat: Around 45 gr of Nutiden Yarn for the main color and around 20 gr for the contrast color, for the size Adult Large.
Grey hat: Around 71 gr/108 m of Drops Big Merino Color 03 for the main color and around 32 gr/46 m of Drops Alaska Color 63 for the contrast color, for the size Adult Large.
