Hammersmith is named after and inspired by First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis’s childhood home, Hammersmith Farm, in Newport, RI. The waterside estate was beloved by John F. Kennedy and his family during his presidential tenure, often signing documents and holding meetings in his sailing clothes before running out of the office to spend the rest of the day on the water. Rhode Island is my own childhood home; I went sailing around Newport with my family last summer, glimpsing the estate from the water, a time which inspired this heavily cabled, New Englander seafaring sweater made for chilly days on sea or land.
Made in Harrisville Designs Nightshades, this beautifully heathered woolen-spun provides depth and dimension to the fabric while providing a mossy density, but lightweight feel.

Design Notes
• This pullover is worked bottom up with a modified-drop-shoulder
construction with armhole increases and a saddle shoulder.
• Sleeves, Back, and Front are worked flat and blocked.
• Folded crewneck is picked up and worked in the round on Size B 16” / 40 cm circs, folded over to pick up sts from the inner neckline seam, and then bound off with the picked-up sts.
• Optional instructions for tubular cast on are provided.
• A 1-st selvedge is worked in garter st along vertical edges.
• Rev St st is worked at the sides of the body and sleeves between cables and selvedge.
• German Short Rows are worked for shoulder shaping.
• The number of Chart A repeats at the sides of the body and aside the= sleeve’s center cable varies by garment size, therefore your finished garment may differ slightly in appearance from the sample photo.
• This pullover uses ASTM for Women measurements, meaning this pullover will best suit a more feminine frame, but can be easily modified to fit a taller and broader frame by lengthening the lower body and the sleeves.
