Hammonton
I find inspiration all around me: Mira at Baah! Yarn had sent me skeins of La Jolla, pairing these two beautiful blues together. On a drive through South Jersey, I passed the exit sign for Hammonton, NJ which is the blueberry capitol of the world, and there was, I swear, an audible click in my brain: the dark blue of berries playing off the lighter blue of the iconic light blue boxes. So here is Hammonton.
This shawl is an asymmetrical triangle, worked from point to base, all garter stitch except for a little purling in the berry stripes. Each berry is worked with short rows; there aren’t that many berries so don’t panic.
The finished shawl has a wonderful drape and feel.
The finished shawl has a wingspan of 61” and a center back length of 25”; these measurements are after blocking.
You will need 400 yards in each of Color A and Color B. The sample in the photo is worked in La Jolla by Baah, and is shown in Powder Blue (Color A) and Over the Moon (Color B).
A US size 4 (3.5mm) 32” circular needle and one removable stitch marker are the tools you will need.
