When I find a stitch that is fun and easy to do, I try to see if it will work in a shawl. Shawls are so fun to make. They work well with color changing yarns and make great gifts. This stitch looks like little handheld fans to me.

This shawl is worked from the bottom up. It starts at the bottom point and increases on each side. It is technically a 4-row repeat, but it is more like a 1-row repeat with 4 different corners. The best part is that you can end on any of the rows. I added a border on the two angled sides to finish it off.

My finished shawl is 58” across the top and 26” tall.

Supplies:

  • 1 cake of Caron Skinny Cakes or about 800 yards of #3 light weight yarn
  • 5mm hook
