When I find a stitch that is fun and easy to do, I try to see if it will work in a shawl. Shawls are so fun to make. They work well with color changing yarns and make great gifts. This stitch looks like little handheld fans to me.

This shawl is worked from top down. It starts in the center at the top and increases on the sides and the center point. It is technically a 4-row repeat, but it is more like a 1-row repeat with 4 different corners. The best part is that you can end on any of the 4 rows, no border needed.

My finished shawl is 61” across the top and 30” tall.

Supplies:

  • 1 cake of Caron Skinny Cakes or about 800 yards of #3 light weight yarn
  • 5mm hook
