I wrote this pattern to use the first yarn I made using a drop spindle. The original fibre was grey and black Shetland tops, plied together resulting in 45 yards of yarn averaging 8 WPI.

The tension (gauge) specified is mine based on the finished item and fits 7” circumference hand. Please do a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. Change needle sizes if you need to.

Use more/fewer stitches if you need to change the size. Knit more rows before and/or after the thumbhole if you want a longer handwarmer.

Bear in mind any changes to tension, needle size, or number of rows may result in you needing more (or less) yarn than specified.
