Doll clothes are fun to knit! Hannah’s lace dress is an easy top down knit. The bodice is knit flat to create a back opening and a button band. Then the skirt is joined to work in the round on 16-inch circular needles. The yarn can do all the color changes on this dress leaving just two ends to finish off.

The basic skirt of the dress is straight up and down. However, instructions are given for increases to give the skirt a bit of flare if desired.

This pattern can also be knit shorter to create a cute top or cardigan which could be worn with the buttons in the back or the front.

Less than 2 ounces of yarn is all that is needed for a dress. Gauge varies depending on the yarn but both a 6.0 and 6.5 sts per inch gauge dress fits the dolls.

This pattern can also be used for the 18-inch American Girl dolls and 18-inch Michael’s Creatology dolls.
