Hap-ish
Hap-ish came into being when I decided it was time to knit with some of the Uradale Yarn in my stash, and thought I would make a basic, hap-ish kind of shawl. The name stuck!
It’s a simple, traditional hap, though may be slightly more Icelandic triangular shawl than Shetland hap in its construction. Worked throughout in garter stitch, the shaping is created by yarn overs in the odd rows, which are worked twisted in the even rows so eyelets don’t form. The stripes emphasise the shape.
I used 4 balls of Uradale DK in bilberry and 1.5 in natural white, and worked on a 6mm needle to give a looser, chunkier feel. The finished size is approx 77cm /30” from nape to point, and a wingspan of approx 230cm / 90”. With seven stripes, I think working rainbow colours would work rather well too.
