This little cardigan is designed for the tiny ones:)
With the beautiful flower/leaf-lace pattern on the back this would look adorable on any baby.

Sizes
Newborn (chest 40 cm/15.75”)
3 months (chest 45 cm/17.75”)

Materials
Yarn: I used Gepard “Eco Cashmere Vintage” to work the cardigan. This yarn comes in skeins of 50 gr/1.76 oz and 150 m/165 yards. To substitute for another yarn, I do recommend a soft and cosy yarn that knits up to gauge. Using this specific yarn, you will need approximately 180 m/225 m.
(Please note: the yarn I used is not listed on Ravelry, but you will find it on Gepards website). Needles: a set of 5 DPNS (or a circular needle if working the magic loop), size 3.5 mm/US4 for the back and the sleeves. For the fronts you may use straight needles, size 3.5 mm/US4. It is important that you use a needle size to obtain the correct gauge. Notions: removable stitch-marker, 2 buttons 12 mm/0.5” across. A crochet hook, 3 mm.
Waste-yarn (non-bleeding). Tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

Gauge
20 sts and 32 rows in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.

Construction
The construction of this cardigan is unusual and interesting.
You work the cardigan in the following order:

1 - the back is worked in the round from RS from the centre out, starting from a provisional cast on.
2 – the left and right front are worked top-down starting from picked up sts along the shoulders.
3 – the side-seams are sewed from WS
4 – the sleeves are worked in the round from picked up sts along the armhole openings.
5 – the edges around the back neck, the fronts and the lower bottom are worked in crochet.

The pattern

The lace-pattern on the back is written out round by round.
There are photos to show different working steps.
The measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
There is a schematic.
