The floral centre of this pattern was tested a while back on my Happy Floral Cushion:

I started this project when I realized how many left-overs I had in the same yarn weight! Left-overs, but not really enough to make a whole item from any of them. So; I worked one floral square, a second and a third one - and then I was completely addicted!
Especially when I made treated myself to pre-block the first few squares. When I saw the beatiful results I knew I had to make a whole blanket!

Design/construction
Each sqare is worked from the centre out. You start from a provisional cast-on. The squares are worked in-the-round and from RS.
The square features a lovely “floral” centre and a garter edge.

Size
Each square measures 12.5 x 12.5 cm/5 x 5”. The size of my blanket is 62.5 x 75 cm /25” x 30”,
consisting of 30 squares.
This size is convenient as a baby-blanket, a lap-blanket, a stroller blanket….

You could use the squares to make almost anything

One square only would be a perfect potholder!
Table-mats, cushions, a bedspread,
any size of blankets/throws could be worked.

Materials
Yarn: I used the fingering weight yarn, Madelinetosh “Tosh Merino Light” to work the blanket. This yarn comes in skeins of 384 m/420 yards. To work 1 square, you need approximately 30 meters/33 yards of this specific yarn. To work the full blanket of 30 squares you need approximately 900 meters/990 yards. I had left-overs and worked as many squares as I could from each colour, which brought me to 13 squares of white, 4 squares of dark blue, 7 squares of light blue, 6 squares of green. Use as many colours as you like! Gauge is not evident, but I recommend that you use a colour-proof yarn with a good stitch-definition, in not a too heavy weight (due to the assembling). I recommend that all yarn used should have the same weight, and be knit at the same gauge.
Please note: if working other yarn weights and other sizes the yardage will be different from above. Needles: you could work the squares either by using a set of 5 dpn’s, or a circular needle (if working the magic loop). I used needle size 3 mm/US2.5 needles to obtain gauge.

The pattern
The pattern gives full instructions on how to work the provisional cast-on and the square. Each round is written out, and a stitch-count is given after each round. Please note that there is no chart.
There is an empty grid for you to sketch colours.
