Happy go lucky lap blanket
36x40
This can be a perfect stash buster. The pattern also plays with various stitches. I enjoy patterns that are not too difficult and have enough interest to keep me entertained!
I changed colors after each section. You could even change colors after every row if you wanted to. Or it would look lovely in a single color. The options are endless.
The yarn I used happened to be what I had in my stash. That gives you an idea of type of medium weight yarn I used. Of course, with a lap blanket, any yarn can be used as long as you remember the size will change. Also, you could add extra sequences to make it longer! Enjoy!

Optional stacked SC, https://youtu.be/FFTv7K7_oU4 (when she demonstrates putting your hook into the left loop of the single crochet, I put mine in between the legs of the single crochet and then continue.)
3 DC cluster, (same as 3DC together in same stitch) (yarn over, insert hook into loop, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over insert hook into same loop, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, and repeat till you have four loops, yo and pull through all four loops, CH1 to close.
Into the legs of a stitch=when you look underneath the two top loops, you will see a V in the front which is called the legs of the stitch. Insert your hook In the middle of that V.
Crochet in third and front loop= Crocheting in third and front loop, or back and 3rd loop=Crochet in back and third loop (insert your hook into back loop, tilt your work toward you and you will see on the back side of your work a smaller half bar/loop underneath. Insert your hook into that stitch as well. This gives your stitch a little bit more stability than using the back loop only. The third and front loop will be on the front side of your work. So tilt your work away from you to see the small bar beneath the front loop. Insert your hook into the third loop first and up into the front loop and crochet your stitch.)
