This double-knit cowl was inspired by Fiona, the amazing preemie hippo from the Cincinnati Zoo that has become a social media queen.

Baby hippos are the cutest and their wiggly ears are the absolute best! This cowl features 3-D ears that are knitted flat and sewn on after the cowl is completed.

This one-size-fits-most pattern is perfect for a superwash yarn like Berroco Vintage and takes less than one skein of each color.

Note: this pattern assumes a basic understanding of double-knitting.
