Harlequin Bear
Harlequin bear is an impressive 15 inches tall and when sitting is 10 inches high
His arms and legs are fully poseable.
This toy is an easy knit, suitable for a confident beginner. There are no complicated stitches or shaping.
The pattern is clearly written and contains many photo’s to help you with the making up.
If you are making this for a small child, omit the plastic eyes and embroider them on instead, this will make him a completely child friendly toy.
Here are the materials needed
DK/8ply/11wpi yarns in the colours of your choice. The biggest quantity you will need is for the body and the head which will be no more than 25 grams, the rest no more than 10 grams.
100grams is usually around 200-225mtrs.
A pair of straight 3mm/UK11/US3 needles – used throughout.
Pair of 10mm plastic safety toy eyes, with holes in the shanks for sewing them on, these are optional, you may wish to use large black beads, buttons with shanks or embroider on instead

These are the abbreviations used
K = knit
P = purl
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Ss = stockinet stitch (one row knit, next row purl and repeat)
Gs = knit every row
k2tog/p2tog = knit/purl the next two stitches together (decreases one stitch)
Inc1 – knit into the front and the back of the next stitch (increases one stitch) Please note, if you use any other method than this, your stitch count will not work out.
The gauge is not important as long as you knit tight enough that the stuffing does not show through.
