Harlequin Heart
This unique crochet heart, worked in striking black and white with a vivid red border, takes a little patience but is fun to make. Counting stitches is the key to success for this motif! The stitches are not difficult and, if you have some experience changing color, you should be able to complete this attractive heart in an evening. The example is made in 3 basic shades of Red Heart Super Saver – cherry red, black and white - but any worsted or aran weight yarn can be used (or other weights with appropriate hook sizes). In Super Saver with an F hook, depending on your gauge, the heart measures about 6.5” across the widest part by 6” down the middle and about 6.25” from highest edge to lowest point. Size may vary if you use different yarn. The heart can be used as an applique to decorate other items and projects or made into a hanging decoration or a magnet. One skein each of 3 colors can make many hearts. Crochet a few Harlequin Hearts for yourself and more to give as gifts!
