Harley is a relaxed, top-down round yoke sweater with a simple two-color motif, and a loose, swingy silhouette. The yarn used is in the samples knits up on a large needle but produces a relatively dense gauge (see more notes about yarn below). Adjust the sleeve or body length to customize your own fit.

CaMaRose Snefnug (55% baby alpaca, 35% cotton, 10% extra fine merino wool; 120 yards/ 50 g)

For Main Color (MC): 7 (7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12) skeins, or 740 (805, 880, 985, 1055, 1195, 1320, 1440) yards of bulky weight yarn

For Contrast Color (CC): 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2) skein(s), or 85 (90, 95, 100, 105, 120, 130, 130) yards of bulky weight yarn

NEEDLES
Main Fabric Needle/Colorwork Needle: US 10 (6.00 mm): 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 80 cm circular, and DPNs, if preferred for small circumference knitting.

Ribbing Needle: US 8 (5.0 mm): 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 80 cm circular, and DPNs, if preferred for small circumference knitting.

GAUGE
17 sts and 24 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette stitch on Main Fabric Needle, after wet-blocking
17 sts and 20.5 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in two-color stockinette stitch on Colorwork Fabric Needle, after wet-blocking

NOTE: Adjust your needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge. For colorwork sections it may be necessary to use a larger OR smaller needle than your Main Fabric Needle.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

NOTES

• This sweater is worked in the round, from the top down, with a circular yoke.
• Yoke neckline is shaped with yarnover short rows, but another short row method may be substituted if you prefer.
• Collar is picked up from a cast-on edge to provide necessary structure at the neckline. If you plan to try your sweater on in progress to check the fit it is advisable to knit several inches of the yoke then put the collar on before continuing, as the structure it provides will show more accurately where the finished sweater will sit on your body.
• Please be aware that the pattern fit is tailored specifically for this yarn which is very drapey and elastic. It clings to the body and requires more fabric in the sleeves in order not to fit too tightly there. If you are substituting a yarn with more structure, you made wish to pick up less stitches for the sleeves.
• In order to check your fit as you work, the following order is recommended: Work the yoke to the end of the colorwork section then put on hold; next work the collar and then one sleeve. Block the piece. Try the sweater on and adjust the sleeve length as needed. You can now complete the second sleeve and body being confident that the sweater is sitting where it is meant to when the sleeves are attached and the garmet has been washed.
