Harmonics is a fingering weight fingerless glove worked from forearm to fingers, with a thumb gusset for a comfortable fit. Using less than 250 yards of yarn for even the largest size, it is a great way to use up some leftover yarn. A fun cabled pattern along the back of the hand keeps things interesting.

The design was inspired by the harmonic oscillator, a fundamental piece of physics that is introduced in a

beginning class on Classical Mechanics but remains relevant all the way through Quantum Mechanics and beyond. The harmonic oscillator describes the motion of a spring or pendulum and its solution is a series of curves often overlaid one on top of another, the way the cables in this design are laid on top of each other.
