Harry Potter Sorting Hat Doll Sized
Pattern is for Sorting Hat only; Harry Potter and Pals doll pattern sold separately by JanaGeek.
*****************************************
Which house are you? Make your own doll-sized Hogwart’s Sorting Hat from worsted-weight yarn and a size E or F crochet hook.
I added a face and chin straps to my Gandalf hat to create a little Sorting Hat to go with my Harry Potter and Pals Crochet Doll Pattern. I’m especially pleased with how expressive the eyebrow ridges look. And check out the side-view photos of the unique shaping of the hat point.
For more Harry Potter fun, see my pattern for Fluffy, the three-headed dog.
Finished hat will be about 3.5 inches (9 cm) across the brim and 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall, depending on your hook size, yarn thickness, and tension. I made the hat pictured with an F (3.75 mm) crochet hook and worsted-weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver 100% acrylic in Cafe Latte).
Pattern includes lots of helpful step-by-step photos for creating the eyebrows, lips, and invisible fasten-off. Hat is made in spiral rounds rather than joined rounds. Pattern includes:
-- definitions of stitch abbreviations
-- materials list
-- instructive color photos
-- links to helpful online crochet tutorials
You will need to know how to:
-- read a crochet pattern
-- chain
-- slip stitch
-- single crochet
-- single crochet decrease or invisible decrease
-- half-double crochet
-- back-post single crochet
