My home is in the Vale of York next to the River Ouse. It is a place of big skies and arable fields. In the Summer, the wheat stands straight and strong while the barley waves in the wind like an inland sea. It is alongside these fields that I take my daily walks with Poppy the dog.
These socks are inspired by our rambles and Stylecraft’s new sock yarn called Head over Heels – Walking in Nature. The twisted stitches echo the ears and stalks of wheat, and the purl filler creates a ribbed texture that supports the leg and foot.
Whenever I design a project, I like to have an easy start to get things moving, so these socks are constructed from the cuff down. I use a set of four double pointed needles, but the pattern can be adapted for the magic loop method
Currently I am offering this pattern for free because I have only knitted it in my size which is a Woman’s Small, European size 36-38.
I hope that you enjoy your Harvest Hike.
