Count Hasimir Fenring is cousin and imperial mentat/assassin to Emperor Shaddam Corrino. His sock is meant to resemble his cousin’s with a cuff band of a wheat crown- in this case depicting sacrifice as he may have been a better leader than his cousin (in my opinion) but is steadfast in his loyalty. The front pattern reminded me of his hummed speech (how he secretly communicated with his wife Margot) meanwhile on the back of the cuff, is the side of him you don’t normally see. Two cables resembling chains, on how he and the emperor are chained together, as he cleans up the emperor’s mistakes and keeps him in power. The Fenring house sign is also a chain. There is a band of lace along each side of the cable similar to the lace on the Amal sock as he was responsible for over-seeing the Amal production and ultimately its cover up since it was a failed experiment. I find him the more interesting of the two, he is known as the “failed Kwisatz Haderach” his sock blends in with other socks, but is a bit more interesting. Sock is worked in modular construction starting with the wheat band worked flat, then stitches are picked up on either side for the cuff and sock. The heel flap blends slipped stitch and the sock pattern, worked down to a rounded toe. Due to the nature of the stitches the band will flare out until worn, then it will lay flat (on appropriate size calf). Optional tassels on cuff band.
