A warm and snug-fitting cowl in a soft Rowan Tweed yarn. The simple six-stitch Fair Isle pattern repeat makes for a straightforward knit and so is suitable for the beginner Fair Isle knitter. This cowl can be knit in the round on circular needles or knit flat on straight needles and then sewn up.

One size option but simple guidance for increasing size is given in the pattern.

Gauge is for swatch knitted in Fair Isle (stranded colour work) pattern. Stranded colour work should be knitted fairly loosely.

1 full ball of background shade of Rowan Tweed (50g + 118m) for stated dimensions. Small amounts of 6 additional colours for colour work, scraps of yarn will work (allow for at least 10 grams of each colour to ensure you have enough).

RowanDK Tweed is discontinued now, Rowan Alpaca Soft DK is a good substitute.
