This pattern a great stash buster and a perfect basic pattern for a matching hat and fingerless mitts. The set is a fabulous way to use up leftover skeins from other knitting projects. A mitt set requires only 60 to 105 yards total depending on the size you select. A hat requires only 60 to 130 yards depending on the size. So you can make both with most skeins of worsted weight yarn.

This basic pattern is great for men and women alike and comes in four sizes. In addition to the sizes, you have two options for the edging for the hat and mitts. You have two options for hat, gathered top or not.

The hat and mitt set is a great gift idea and a craft show item.

You can use a yarn with its own colorways or use several color yarns and knit in color blocks. There’s not a better way to use those small quantities of yarn that you have in your stash.
