Calling all stashers of Lion Brand Homespun!

I don’t know about you, but when I first started delving into yarn crafts, I went into my local big box craft supplies store and immediately fell in love with Lion Brand Homespun yarn. The colors were beautiful, and the softness of each skein was almost intoxicating. I bought, well, more than I’d care to admit. And then I cheerfully sauntered off home, only to discover that my new-found treasure was actually the most splitty, uneven, squeaky yarn I’ve ever worked with even to this day.

So in the few years since this purchase, my Lion Homespun has been languishing in a drawer. However, my situation now with all my other yarns being on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean except the humble Homespun forced me to knock something up that actually seems to have worked. Homespun, for all its faults, is incredibly warm. This cowl, crocheted with a 7mm hook so you can really shove it in despite the splitty-ness, has just enough subtle variation to add interest but is simple enough that you can concentrate on getting the yarn to cooperate without having to focus on a tricky pattern as well. It’s quick too (I made mine in just under two episodes of Sherlock, and I’m a slow crocheter!), and it’s a veritable neck toaster.

This is my first pattern I’ve made, so if there are any obvious mistakes, please feel free to let me know!
